Zoo Miami is one of our favorite spots in Miami! Consistently ranked as one of the top Zoos in the country, this park has a lot of our kid’s favorite animals including lions, tigers, giraffes, primates, and zebras. Due to the nature of South Florida’s climate, they also offer a variety of tropical species that you may not get a chance to see anywhere else! The Zoo’s layout is set up to represent different continents (Africa, the Amazon, Australia, and Asia) with unique animals that call those regions home. As native Floridians, we appreciate the special area dedicated to the Florida Everglades and the species native to the area.

Zoo Miami has long been considered one of the more responsible zoos as they present most of their animals in exhibits that do not have bars or cages, instead opting for more natural safeguard (i.e. moats) that allow the animals to exist in more natural habitats. Additionally, the park offers unique experiences including feedings, petting zoos, pony rides, shows at the amphitheatre, and the largest open air aviary in the western hemisphere.

One huge plus to this Zoo is the year round accessibility to the exhibit…but the summer months can be rough! Thankfully, Zoo Miami has cool zones, as well as a water play area, to help keep everyone cool and have some fun while at it. Another air conditioned respite is the park’s monorail that makes for a great way to cover the park’s 750 acres with ease and a nice rest for those tired legs.

Overall, we have consistently enjoyed the experience the Zoo Miami offers and is one of our top spots to visit as a family!
